Mandy Matula’s body was found in a shallow grave ending a 5-month search outside of Minneapolis, Minn.
A hiker has found the body of a Minnesota woman whose ex-boyfriend committed suicide rather than talk to police, authorities said.
Mandy Matula, 24, was last seen on May 1 as she got into a car with her former sweetheart.
After nearly five months missing, she was discovered on Saturday in a shallow grave. Her body was wrapped in a blanket. A single bullet hole pierced her skull, police said.

Mandy Matula’s brother Steven (left) and father Wayne say her ex-boyfriend seemed like a ‘really good guy’ which made it even more stunning when police named the 24-year-old the ‘primary person of interest’ in the Matula’s disappearance.
Matula’s family told the Pioneer Press it was a “relief” to finally find her body.
“I knew Mandy was gone, but to know that she’s found now and that we can bring her back home is a lot of relief,” brother Steve Matula told the paper. “It’s a lot of weight taken off my shoulders.”
