Developers Of SI Outlet Mall Agree To Use Organized Labor

The developers of the Staten Island Outlet Mall has reached an agreement with trade labor unions to use organized labor to construct the mall.

BFC Partners confirmed the deal to NY1 Tuesday evening.

“We’re one step closer to a project that’s great for New York and transformative for Staten Island,” said Donald Capoccia of BFC Partners.

Sources say that the project will use 100 percent building trade labor, with a strong commitment expected from contractors to use a Staten Island workforce.

According to sources, the city will make up the difference in cost between BFC and the trade unions.

BFC had previously only promised to use 15 percent of jobs on the project from union sources.
