Bronx killer knocked before shooting man, 44

Cops responded early Tuesday to a fatal shooting at basement apartment on E. 221st St. near Carpenter Ave. in Williamsbridge.



Death came knocking and claimed a 44-year-old Bronx man early Tuesday, officials.


A gunman went to Erwin Elliot’s basement apartment on E. 221st St. near Carpenter Ave. in Williamsbridge about 1:15 a.m. and knocked on the door, cops said.

When Elliot answered, the gunman shot him in the head and ran off.


A motive behind the slaying was not immediately clear but police sources said marijuana was found in Elliot’s apartment, leading investigators to believe the killing may have been drug-related.

Elliot died at the scene, officials said. His killer was still at large Tuesday.
