The dark days are over — let the cuteness commence.


The popular Panda Cam installed at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo went back online Thursday after it was temporarily shuttered during the government shutdown.


Fans of the webcam, which features 24 hours of panda streaming live from Washington, D.C., expressed their initial disappointment on social media when lawmakers failed to keep the federal government funded for the past 16 days.

Congress finally approved an agreement late Wednesday that allowed furloughed government workers to return to their jobs — and reopens federal monuments and attractions.

The National Zoo itself will open its doors Friday.


Meanwhile, those who logged onto the Panda Cam’s site were treated to mom Mei Xiang coddling her cub.

The zoo noted that live streaming was spotty because of all the people trying to log on:


But the beloved webcam could be taken down again if Congress fails to avert another shutdown in January.
