Netanyahu reveals gap in Iranian fashion knowledge

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on Iranian fashion, music and elections in an interview with BBC Persia.




Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s knowledge of Iran apparently doesn’t extend to fashion.


In an interview with BBC Persia released late Saturday, Netanyahu amused Iranians with his comments on what they wear.

“I think if the Iranian people had freedom, they would wear jeans, listen to Western music, and have free elections,” Netanyahu said.


Iranians responded by tweeting pictures of themselves wearing jeans.

“Mr. Netanyahu, here is a shop selling weapons of mass destruction in Iran,” one popular tweet read, showing a picture of a jeans store.
