A 72-year-old straphanger was clinging to life Friday after a drunken homeless man shoved him off a train platform onto the subway roadbed in Hamilton Heights, officials said.
Police said the victim was waiting for the A train at the W. 145th St. and St. Nicholas Ave. subway station with his wife at about 4:30 p.m. when the unidentified suspect attacked.

He suffered a cracked skull and a broken collar bone in the fall, officials said.
Commuters jumped onto the tracks and pulled the injured man back onto the platform before a train arrived.

The senior was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Charges against the homeless man, who was apprehended at the scene, were pending late Friday.
