New York Flights Delayed After Shooting At LAX Terminal

The Federal Aviation Administration has grounded all flights taking off for Los Angeles after three people were shot at Los Angeles International Airport.

A source tells the Associated Press one of the victims was a Transportation Security Administration agent who was killed.

Police say they have the shooter in custody.

They say just after 9:30 a.m. Los Angeles time a man pulled a rifle at a screening station and opened fire.

Police say he shot his way past the screeners and into the terminal area.

Officers traded gunfire with him and were eventually able to nab him.

Terminal 3 had to be evacuated.

Hundreds of travelers were seen running from the airport.

Here in New York, the Port Authority’s chief security officer said the agency is increasing patrols at area airports and checkpoints.

In a statement, he added, “Our stepped up patrols will not impact flight operations, however, passengers should check with their individual carriers for any delays that may be a result of the grounded activity at LAX.”
