Police are investigating a rape that occurred in a building on New York University’s campus.
They are looking for the man seen in the surveillance image at left.
He’s seen wearing a dark gray sweater, dark-colored jeans, a black hat and an ace bandage wrapped around his right hand.
It happened at around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police say the suspect confronted a 24-year-old woman near Thompson Street, then dragged her inside a building on Washington Square South and raped her.
Police say she eventually fought him off and he ran away.
University officials say the woman was walking into the school’s Catholic Center when she was attacked.
The victim was taken to a local hospital. She is expected to be OK.
School officials say they are cooperating with police and urge students to be on guard.
