The folks at SantaCon are still on the top cop’s nice list.
“This is an event that we support,” NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Friday. “It’s what makes New York New York.”

Kelly spoke after a Midtown North precinct lieutenant this week urged bars to withhold Christmas cheer from the red menace — hard-partying revelers in Santa suits.

During the event, thousands of wanna-be Kris Kringles flock to the city.
“There have been some rowdy actions by a small handful of people in the past,” he said. “I think that’s why the officers in Midtown North were trying to at least alert the tavern owners in that area. There has been some fighting … blocking the sidewalk with large numbers of people.”

Critics charged last year’s SantaCon turned into a wild, drunken romp.
The holiday bar crawl, set for Dec. 14, draws thousands of wanna-be Kris Kringles to the city, and raises money for charity.

“Generally, it’s a peaceful event and one that we want to support and facilitate,” Kelly said.
