Who wore it best? Joe Namath showed up to Super Bowl XLVII in a coat that reminded fans of the one worn by the Ikea Monkey last year.
Joe Namath seems to be taking fashion tips from the IKEA monkey.
The football legend showed up to Super Bowl XLVIII Sunday in an oversized fur coat, not unlike the one the infamous primate was spotted running around in at a Toronto IKEA store last fall.
The extravagant fur was the talk of Twitter, even as the Seattle Seahawks crushed the Denver Broncos in a 43-8 win. Fans drew comparisons to coats worn by rapper Macklemore, Liberace, Ron Burgundy and several users’ grandmothers.
Namath was the designated coin-tosser at the game – a job he botched when he flipped it before the Seahawks’ captains chose head or tails.

“Alright, Joe Namath’s fur coat wins the Super Bowl. Wrap it up, we’re done here,” one person tweeted.
The coat even spawned its several Twitter accounts, including @JoeNamathCoat and @JoeFurCoat.

He bought it Wednesday at Marc Kaufman Furs in Manhattan, the store’s owner told the gossip website.
“This is perfect for me,” Namath said before shelling out $ 3,000 for the fancy fur.
In true fashion, PETA took the chance to blast Namath for his fashion choice, tweeting a gruesome photo of leftover animal skins to the former Jets quarterback.
Namath, 70, has been a fan of furs since his heyday in the 1960s, often photographed on the sidelines wearing luxurious minks and, in one photo, seen getting fitted by a furrier.
