The Department of Sanitation has issued a snow alert for today as three to five inches are expected to fall in the city before the storm wraps up this afternoon.
Wet snow mixing with rain could make things messy for Super Bowl revelers looking to get out of town and those trying to get to work and school.
The city says it has loaded salt spreaders and attached plows and tire chains to its trucks in anticipation of slick roads.
Alternate side parking is suspended for storm preparations, but drivers still have to feed the meters.
Garbage and recycling pickup is also suspended.
Public schools are open, but after-school programs and PSAL activities are cancelled.
This is the first of three snowstorms expected to the city this week.
