A stagehands strike that briefly delayed the start of Carnegie Hall’s season has ended.
The New York concert hall says it reached agreement with Local 1 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, which went on strike Wednesday.
A message on the union’s phone line says the strike ended at noon Friday after agreement on a four-year contract.
The sides had differed on whether Carnegie Hall should be required to use union stagehands in its new education wing. The concert hall said Friday the deal included “limited jurisdiction” there for the union.
The strike caused the cancellation of Wednesday’s opening-night performance by the Philadelphia Orchestra. But Thursday night’s concert by the American Symphony Orchestra went on.
