Plaza College is moving from Jackson Heights to the Forest Hills Tower in Queens.
A Jackson Heights commuter college is moving on over — to Forest Hills.
Plaza College, which offers associates and bachelors degrees in fields including medical billing and accounting, announced on Thursday that it signed a 15-year lease to move into the Forest Hills Tower in September 2014.
“This is going to help define us for the next 100 years,” said Charles Callahan, a director at the college who negotiated the move.
Roughly 700 students and 120 staffers will occupy a portion of the ground floor, and the entire second floor of the 17-story tower on Queens Blvd.
The college, which was founded in 1916 and is currently located in Jackson Heights, will gain about 10,000 square feet in space and a private outdoor courtyard.
Plaza plans to use the extra space to add three medical labs and double the size of the common space available to students.
