Police are blocking vehicle and pedestrian traffic on West 57th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues as crews work to secure a faulty crane dangling from a building.
According to the city Office of Emergency Management, the crane on the 79-story One57 building had a hydraulic failure.
It’s the same building where winds from Hurricane Sandy left a crane dangling nearly a year ago.
Residents were quickly evacuated at that time.
The crane was secured a few days later and repaired about six months ago.
The cause of today’s malfunction was not immediately known.
