If Aquaman celebrated Halloween, it would go something like this.

Divers got a jump start on All Hallows’ Eve by competing in the 16th annual Pumpkin Carving Contest in the Florida Keys on Saturday.

In all, 14 pumpkins were molded into shape at the bottom of the sea by competitors all wearing the same costume, scuba gear.

“It was hard to get the knife in the right spot,” teen carver Alia Jones told the Miami Herald. “And if you let the knife go, it would float away.”

Jana Vandelaar and her daughter Jaqueline won the top prize with a pumpkin featuring sunglasses and a retainer.

The contest took place a few miles off the shore of Key Largo, with snorkelers watching from the surface, 30 feet above the divers.

“We try to make sure the fish are not eating any pumpkins,” organizer Amy Slate told the Herald. “We don’t want to change their diets or habits.”
