Four People Stabbed in Riverside Park

The police said a person was in custody but had no details on the ages of the victims or the severity of the injuries. The attacks occurred at around 8 a.m. in Riverside Park, according to witnesses.

“I basically just saw a woman crying,” a sanitation worker, Shurrita Fields, told WNBC-TV . “She was bleeding from the neck.”

Ms. Fields told the station that the woman told her that she saw at least four people who were stabbed or slashed, including a child.

The attacks occurred on a sunny autumn morning and the park was crowded with joggers, bikers, people heading to work or out for a stroll.

Footage from news helicopters showed crime scene tape in several different areas of Riverside Park, which stretches four miles from 72nd to 158th streets along the Hudson River.

Police also cordoned off an area known as South Riverside Park, north of 63rd Street.
