Latest Poll Shows De Blasio With Commanding Lead

A brand new poll shows Democratic mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio still enjoying a huge lead over Republican challenger Joe Lhota.

The survey found 71 percent of likely voters support de Blasio compared to just 21 percent for Lhota.

Independence Party candidate Adolfo Carrion gets just two percent.

When broken down along racial lines, the difference between de Blasio and Lhota is even more striking.

White voters choose de Blasio 55 to 40 percent. But black voters support de Blasio 90 percent to six percent, and Hispanics are backing de Blasio 79 percent to 10 percent.

The survey of 1,200 likely voters was conducted over the past week.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.

Meantime, de Blasio has released his first TV ad of the general election.

In it, he says the city is bigger and stronger when everyone has a fair shot.

Lhota released his first TV ad yesterday.

With de Blasio so far ahead Lhota is trying to win over voters by pointing out how similar his policies are to de Blasio’s in areas such as abortion and gay marriage.
