New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday announced citywide charitable projects getting funding thanks to Super Bowl XLVIII.

Hosting the Super Bowl will come with perks for New York City, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Thursday.

The NFL and the Super Bowl Host Committee have donated $ 2 million for projects across the city, especially targeting neighborhoods hit by Hurricane Sandy.

The contributions will fund playgrounds in Queens and Staten Island, a new gym at Rockaway’s Hammel Houses, a football field in the Bronx and a gym in Manhattan.

“Each project will have an impact that lasts long after the clock expires at the Super Bowl,” Bloomberg said.
