One Of Three Teens Arrested In S.I. Convent Fire Charged With Hate Crime

Three teenagers are under arrest in connection with a fire at a convent on Staten Island.

Vincent Calder, 19, is facing multiple charges including arson, criminal mischief and trespassing, all as hate crimes.

Police say he was the one who intentionally set the fire.

Christopher Sasso, 19, and Diego Tuso, 19, are charged with burglary, criminal mischief and trespassing.

The fire broke out early Saturday morning at the convent on the grounds of St. Joseph Hill Academy.

A nun was seriously injured when she jumped from a second story window to escape the flames.

The fire department labeled the fire suspicious after investigators determined it started in two different locations within the building around the same time.
