Police Seek Suspect In Brooklyn Woman’s Fatal Shooting

Police are asking for the public’s help finding the suspect in the killing of a 24-year-old single mother in Brooklyn.

Nicoleia Taylor, 24, was shot in the chest in the courtyard of Lafayette Gardens, a New York City Housing Authority complex, in Bedford-Stuyvesant at approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Taylor lived in the complex with her 3-year-old son.

Police are looking for 21-year-old Corey Brown.

Brown is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds.

Detectives have named him as a suspect in Taylor’s shooting.

Her family wants the suspect caught.

“If you have any kind of information on this guy, please report it to the police,” said Ilene Taylor, Nicoleia Taylor’s sister. “That was my baby sister, and I will never be able to enjoy her birthday, which is Monday, my sister’s birthday is Monday, and I’m burying her on her birthday. So you guys think about that. Please, put this guy away forever.”

The family says that Nicoleia Taylor was a nurse who gave plenty to the world, and the world will miss her, too.

“Gentleness, kindness, loving-ness, sweetness,” Ilene Taylor said. “Just a look in her eyes says it all.”

Police say Nicoleia Taylor was not the intended target.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
