Report: Vikings RB Peterson’s son hospitalized after beating

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has left the team to be with his critically-injured young son, according to reports.


TMZ reports that Peterson’s two-year-old son was brutally beaten by his mother’s boyfriend in Sioux Falls, S.D., Wednesday evening. Emergency responders found the child unresponsive at the apartment where he lives and rushed him to a local hospital, where doctors found evidence of abuse.


Twenty-seven-year-old Joseph Patterson was arrested and charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant.

Peterson’s son suffered severe head injuries, local law enforcement officials told TMZ.


Peterson has yet to comment and the Vikings have only said that their star running back left the team for “personal reasons.”


Minnesota hosts the Carolina Panters this weekend at the Metrodome. Peterson’s status for Sunday’s game is unknown.
