Two Facing Charges In Brooklyn Crash That Critically Injured Driver

A driver and his passenger are expected to face charges after their car crashed into a van in Brooklyn Sunday night following an alleged assault.

Police say shortly after 10 p.m. officers saw a man beating on a car on Park Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

When they approached, he hopped into a car with another person and drove off.

The car hit a van at the intersection of Myrtle and Tompkins Avenues, causing the van to flip on its side.

The car eventually stopped and the driver and passenger were taken into custody.

“This is really, really, really shocking to see this here on Thompson and Myrtle,” said one witness.

“It’s pretty dramatic. It’s more dramatic than most of the car accidents you see around here. Like I said, they closed all the blocks off and they had all kinds of cars and emergency vehicles, here. It seemed like a big deal,” said another witness.

The car driver and his passenger suffered minor injuries, and it’s not yet clear

what charges they will face.

The van’s driver was more seriously hurt and was taken to Woodhull Hospital in critical condition.
