Two More Bikers Charged In Connection With Henry Hudson Parkway Incident

Two more bikers are now facing charges in connection to the violent road rage incident involving motorcyclists and an SUV driver. NY1′s Magee Hickey filed the following report.

Robert Sims of Brooklyn stood with little expression on his face at his arraignment on gang assault and weapons charges.

The Manhattan assistant district attorney said in court that Sims, 35, admitted in a statement that he was part of a group of motorcycle riders who attacked an SUV driver after he ran over a fellow biker.

However, Sims’ lawyer, Luther Williams, said that his client was only a witness to the attack and that Sims has become a fall guy in a case that’s now in the public eye.

“I’m not sure, at this point, what’s happening, who did what, but I’m pretty sure that my client didn’t do anything that holds him culpable,” Williams said. “At this point, the only thing I can say is that I think that the district attorney’s office is panicking, and they’re panicking because of the public opinion on this.”

Sims’ lawyer said his client is not clearly visible in the videos that have gone viral, and the lawyer blamed two other bikers, Reginald Chance and Christopher Cruz, for the attack on the SUV driver, Alexian Lien.

“Mr. Cruz, who initially started this, he’s the idiot who got this entire thing started,” Williams said. And Cruz, Chance, and I can’t remember the other fella’s name, perhaps they’ll have some culpability, but my client has no culpability at all, and that hopefully, at trial, we’ll be able to establish that.”

Christopher Cruz was arraigned on charges of reckless driving and unlawful imprisonment.

He was released on bail but also ordered to hand in his passport, and his driver’s license was suspended.

Meanwhile, police at the 33rd Precinct shielded another motorcyclist, Kevin Bressloff, From the news media. He is said to be a cooperating witness who provided much of the helmet cam video to police.

An NYPD officer has been placed on modified duty as internal affairs investigates if he was involved in any way in any of the incidents.

Reginald Chance, 37, of Brooklyn is also facing charges of gang assault, assault and criminal mischief in a case that is growing increasingly complex.
