Wake Being Held For Woman Shot By Police On Capitol Hill

A wake is being held tonight for the woman shot by police on Capitol Hill.

Friends and family of 34-year-old Miriam Carey, a Bedford-Stuyvesant native, are gathering to bid farewell to the mother and dental hygienist.

Carey was gunned down by police near Capitol Hill after a run-in at a White House barrier on October 3.

The Capitol was on lockdown during the incident.

A lawyer for Carey’s family wants the officers who shot her to face charges, saying the use of deadly force was unnecessary.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Brooklyn.
