A woman on her way home from a Halloween party was followed by a creep who tried to sexually assault her in then rescued by a Good Samaritan who scared the attacker off.
The 23-year-old victim got off a bus on Melbourne Avenue, near 150th Street, in Queens around 5:30 a.m., Friday, when the man who had been following her emerged from the shadows, punched her in the head and tried to drag her into the bushes, police said.
A passerby interrupted the attack and scared the perpetrator off, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.
“He tries to drag her into the bushes and a Good Samartian comes by and stops the assault and then the individual flees,” he said during a press briefing at police headquarters.
The victim refused medical attention.
Police are still looking for a suspect, believed to be in his 20s, who was last seen wearing jeans and a black t-shirt.
