The man accused by police of pushing another man off a Manhattan subway platform Friday is being held without bail.
Investigators say 57-year-old Rudralall Baldeo pushed 72-year-old Shou Quan Lin onto the A train tracks at the 145th Street station Friday afternoon.
Lin remains hospitalized.
He was helped back up onto the platform by fellow straphangers just before the next train arrived.
Baldeo, who police say is homeless, has been charged with attempted murder and felony assault.
He was arraigned at around 1 a.m. Sunday and is due back in court on Wednesday.
Riders at the station were on edge, but were glad to see that people jumped into action after the attack.
“I worked on these tracks. I used to, I did work on the third rail, and it’s dangerous to even think about jumping down there if you don’t know what you’re in for,” said one person.
“People in New York sometimes get a bad rep about not being the most friendly people, but it goes to show that there are people that are looking to help out,” said another.
Police are asking anyone who might have seen the incident to contact them.
