Disgruntled employee stabbed boss over $360 in unpaid wages: prosecutors

The construction manager who was stabbed by a disgruntled worker on a bustling Brooklyn Heights street had earlier told the worker “F–k you” when he asked him to cough up $ 360 in unpaid wages, prosecutors said in court Tuesday.

Andriy Komynar, 20, was hit with an attempted murder rap Tuesday in Brooklyn criminal court for allegedly plunging a knife into the neck of construction manager Yaakov Pfieffer, 30, in broad daylight a day earlier.

“The defendant worked for the victim for five days and was owed $ 360,” Brooklyn assistant district attorney Wilfredo Cotto said at the Brooklyn criminal court arraignment.

Komynar, 20, had texted and called Pfieffer trying to get paid but, “The victim told the defendant, ‘F–k you,’” Cotto said.

When Komynar went to confront Pfieffer on Monday the construction manager said he would pay next Monday, prosecutors said.

“The defendant became very angry and pushed the knife into the victim,” Cotto said, adding that the violent stabs punctured the victim’s jugular.

Pfieffer – who was sitting in his idling pickup truck when he was attacked at 1 p.m. on Montague Street at Clinton Street – stumbled out of his truck with blood spurting from his neck and shouted, “Somebody help me! Call 911!” according to witnesses.

Other witnesses chased the stabber down after they saw him stuff the 6-inch blade into his jeans, they said.

Komynar defense attorney Tony Mirvis said his client was not the aggressor and acted in self-defense when Pfieffer lunged at him.

“This was self-defense if ever there was a self-defense case,” said Mirvis.

Komynar – who hails from Ukraine – was held on $ 250,000 cash bail. His mother and aunt sat in the courtroom for his arraignment and declined to comment afterwards.
