Man Dies Less Than Year After Being Exonerated

A recently exonerated man dies less than a year after his release from prison.

William Lopez spent 23 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit.

Back in January, a federal judge threw out his conviction, citing lack of evidence in the 1989 murder he was accused of.

Lopez’s attorney confirms he died of a massive asthma attack this past Saturday.

The sudden passing also came just days before Lopez’s wrongful conviction claim is expected to be heard in court.

A claim has been filed against former Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes for $ 124 million.
