Pedestrian hit by motorcycle in Midtown

A pedestrian was severely injured when he was struck by a motorcyclist in Midtown Manhattan Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Witnesses heard the loud boom of the crash, then saw the pedestrian lying with a pool of blood underneath him at the intersection of 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue.

The biker and pedestrian, both male, were taken to Bellevue Hospital following the 4:24 p.m. collision. The biker apparently suffered less serious injuries, authorities said.

“Everyone was shocked and a couple of people were trying to help,” said witness, Philippe Bigard, 21, a security guard.

“The man looked like he had a head and arm injury,” said another witness, Ahmed Bakr, 54.

“There was a puddle of blood underneath him.”
