Pro-police rally scheduled Saturday on Staten Island

A pro-cop rally on Staten Island Saturday is expected to draw several thousand participants to bolster support for the NYPD in the wake of last month’s angry protest over the death of Eric Garner.

Ken Peterson, 71, a retired NYPD detective, insists the effort is not just in response to the Aug. 23 protest against Garner’s death led by the Rev. Al Sharpton, but designed to salute the memory of fallen officers and those who now serve.

“Cops are not necessarily getting a fair shake . . . It’s not a case of cops not being honored, but of them not being respected,” he insisted.

The rally will start at 11 a.m. at Father Capodanno Boulevard and Sand Lane in South Beach.
