De Blasio inauguration tickets sell out quick — then get scalped

He’s the hottest ticket in town.

It took just two hours for the 1,000 public tickets to Mayor-Elect Bill de Blasio’s Jan. 1 inauguration to get snatched up and only a few more minutes before they were being scalped on CraigsList.

“I’m selling two tickets to Bill de Blasio’s inauguration on Wednesday … the Mayor-elect will greet the event’s attendees in City Hall following the ceremony. So maybe you’ll get to meet him?” said one scalper who was offering $ 20 a ticket.

The mayor-elect on Thursday touted how fast the tickets went by posting an update on Twitter, but he didn’t bother to mention the scalpers who were profiting.

“1000 tickets and less than two hours later, the Inauguration is sold out! RT if you’ll be there on January 1st at City Hall,” de Blasio tweeted.

De Blasio and his transition team promised the event, held at noon on Jan. 1 on the steps to City Hall, will be “the most open and accessible events of its kind in New York City’s history.”

Afterward, de Blasio will greet people at City Hall and he and wife Chirlane are planning to host an open house at Gracie Mansion for the public on Jan. 5.
