Teen, police officer trade gunfire in Queens: cops

The suspect was treated at Jamaica Hospital for a laceration to his face.



A teen gunman and a cop exchanged gunfire in Far Rockaway early Friday before the suspect was apprehended and his weapon recovered, police sources said.


The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. at Beach Channel Drive and Nameoke Ave.

The 18-year-old suspect was being chased on foot when he fired at the officer, who returned fire, sources said.


No one was struck by the gunfire, though the suspect was treated at Jamaica Hospital for a laceration to the face. The officer was treated at St. John’s Hospital for tinnitus.


On Thursday, a Bronx cop fatally shot an armed ex-con during a struggle, police said.
