Trustees of the Queens Library refused to consider a measure that would have allowed four ex-officio members to vote Thursday night on whether embattled president Thomas Galante should take a three-month leave of absence, the Daily News has learned.
The hotly contested issue ended in a 9-9 stalemate — meaning he will stay.
An attendee told The News the additional members would have broken the tie and likely voted to give the luxury-loving library head the boot.
The vote came after The News revealed Galante spent $ 140,000 to renovate his executive offices, crowning the project with a $ 27,000 outdoor smoking deck.
