A second man was convicted Tuesday in connection with the 2011 shooting of a teen basketball star at an East Harlem public housing project.
The Manhattan district attorney says Robert Cartagena was found guilty on charges of second-degree murder, burglary and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of 18-year-old Tayshana “Chicken” Murphy.
Officials say Cartagena and Tyshawn Brockington approached Murphy and a group of friends at about 4 a.m. on September 10, 2011.
Police say Murphy was shot three times, once in the hip, once in the wrist and once in the chest.
They say the confrontation stemmed from a feud between rival Harlem housing projects.
Cartagena was affiliated with the Manhattanville Houses.
He is expected to be sentenced later this month.
Brockington was convicted for his role in Murphy’s murder in 2013 and was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison.
