Six days after a shootout with police in Brooklyn, the 22-year-old man charged with attempted murder of an officer has died in the hospital.
Police say Naim Owens exchanged gunfire with Officer John Hirschberger using this weapon on August 31st in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section.
Investigators say it all began when two other officers noticed Owens adjusting his waistband.
When the two went up to him—police say—he ran from the scene.
That’s when he ran into Hirschberger and another plain-clothes officer.
Hirschberger was treated at the hospital and released.
Officials say Owens was originally expected to survive.
