She’s already come in first.
The first name Democratic voters saw when they went to the polls Tuesday was that of Zephyr Teachout, who is challenging heavily-favored Gov. Cuomo.
Officials said it was strictly the luck of the draw that put the novice candidate ahead of the governor on the statewide ballot.
“It’s a random drawing. Teachout came in first,” said one Board of Elections official.
A Teachout aide said the campaign was thrilled to get the first-place position, hoping it would add to her vote count.
But in the race for lieutenant governor, the order was reversed.
Kathy Hochul, Cuomo’s running mate, appeared first. Teachout’s team mate, Timothy Wu,was second.
