New York City Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio will have a chance to meet Democratic leaders who will be cruicial to implementing his plan to fund free prekindergarten by increasing taxes on the wealthy.

ALBANY — Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio will pay a visit Monday to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s annual holiday luncheon for his Democratic members, the Daily News has learned.

It will be the first time that de Blasio will meet with the conference that should be a key Albany ally as he pushes a progressive agenda that includes hiking the city income tax on the wealthy to pay for prekindergarten programs.

New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver is expected to meet with New York City Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio at Silver’s annual luncheon for his democratic members.

An Assembly source said the Dems are “excited about the prospect of working with the mayor-elect on his signature policy initiative.”

“This will be a chance for them to meet face to face to talk about the best way to get that done in the coming session,” the source said.

De Blasio’s tax hike plan faces an uphill battle in Albany. While Silver (D-Manhattan) and Senate co-leader Jeff Klein (D-Bronx) support it, Senate GOP leader Dean Skelos (R-Nassau County) opposes higher taxes. Gov. Cuomo has been cool to the idea of raising taxes next year but has said he agrees with the goal of expanding pre-K.
