Parade in Bronx Celebrates Anniversary of Central American Independence



Central American pride was on full display during a parade through the Bronx.


Organizers say about 1,500 people took part in the event celebrating the 193rd anniversary of Central American Independence.


Spectators said they enjoy experiencing a piece of their culture here in the city.


“I just love my country, Honduras, with all my heart,” said one spectator. “It’s just incredible to see all the people around here that’s Hondurian.


“I like this parade because it’s exciting,” said another. “It reminds me of my country a lot.”


After the parade, participants gathered in Crotona Park to for the Central America Day Festival.
