Police have responded to the Diamond District with a heavy presence on 47th Street following an armed robbery attempt at a jewelry store this afternoon.
The New York City Police Department says the call came in around 2:30 p.m. to 23 West 47th street, the address of ZH Zell and Sons.
They say someone tried to rob the store at gunpoint and that the situation is developing.
Police say they are searching the area for potential suspects as we speak.
