Window Washers Rescued From 1 WTC Scaffold

Rescue crews have successfully pulled two workers from scaffolding just below the 70th floor of One World Trade Center this afternoon.

According to a window washing union rep who witnessed the rescue inside the building, both workers appear to be unharmed.

The rep says it appears to have been caused by a mechanical error.

City fire officials say the two were tethered on the collapsed scaffold located on the building’s south side.

It comes just a week after Condé Nast, the building’s first official tenant, began moving in.

Due to the rescue effort, drivers are urged to avoid the streets surrounding the World Trade Center complex.

NY1 has a crew at the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
