Woman critically injured after she drove the wrong way on FDR: cops


A New Jersey woman is clinging to life after she drove the wrong-way on the FDR early Thursday, injuring four others, cops said.


The three-car accident on the highway happened opposite Stuyvesant Town near East 23rd Street at 4 a.m., according to authorities.


The 33-year-old woman was driving southbound in the northbound lane on the FDR when it collided with two vehicles, cops said.


She suffered critical injuries and a friend sitting in the passenger seat escaped with minor injuries, cops said.


A police source said the driver was confused and accidentally got on the highway heading the wrong way.


Three other people were injured in the accident, all five were taken to Bellevue, according to authorities.


One person refused medical attention at the scene, police said.


All vehicles remained at the scene, cops said.
