Hospital supervisors tormented staffers: suit

Two female staffers at Lenox Hill Hospital were tormented by sexually harassing supervisors — including one who boasted that his “Spanish-Italian sausage” could cure her when she was sick, a lawsuit charges.

Eliana Misas and Rhonda McIntosh said their troubles at the famed Upper East Side hospital began in 2012, when supervisors Julio Cardoza and Omar Edwards started making lewd comments to them, according to the Manhattan federal court suit.

In one instance, Cardoza boasted about having the perfect remedy for making McIntosh feel better after she called in sick, the suit says.

“You need a Spanish-Italian sausage all the way,” he allegedly bragged, referring to his penis.

Meanwhile, Misas felt “violated and disgusted” after Edwards made offensive comments about her “beautiful breasts,” the suit says.

Both women said Cardoza also once called them into Edwards’ office to show off how his colleague’s computer screen was draped with porn.

The two women said their life became a living hell after they reported the alleged inappropriate behavior to their union and Edwards was forced to resign.

They were subjected to relentless verbal “bullying” by co-workers and passed over for promotions and overtime, the suit says.

“The way the hospital treated these two women is despicable,” said their lawyer, Richard Roth.

The women are suing North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, which runs the hospital, and Cardoza.

Anthony Davenport, a spokesman for North Shore-LIJ, declined comment.
