2 hurt after SUV slams into gas station

Two people were hurt when a Queens driver slammed into a gas station on the Long Island Expressway service road, police said.

Driver Muhammad Izhar, 55, was low on gas and heading home to Livingston, NJ, when he exited the LIE and headed toward the BP gas station at 99-49 Horace Harding Expressway, he told The Post.

“There was a car on the service road behind me, I thought he was going to slow down,” Izhar said.

Izhar said he signaled and tried to enter the service road only to be hit from behind, which pushed his car into a parked vehicle.

“The next thing after that, I was in the store in the car. It happened very fast, two seconds,” he said.

The two people hurt were treated for serious but not life threatening injuries at Elmhurst Hospital.
