Police across the city are hunting for a Queens man wanted in connection with a deadly workplace shooting on Long Island.
Police identified the man as 62-year-old Sang Ho Kim of Queens.
They say that shortly after 10 a.m., he entered the offices of Save Energy, a light fixture company in East Garden City, and opened fire.
One person was killed, and another is hospitalized.
According to police, Kim was able to flee the scene in a white 2007 Honda Pilot with a New York license plate number of FMA-3648.
Police say that Kim had done business with the light fixture company.
They say that the shooting took place in a room where the owner and employees were standing.
As authorities searched the area, several area schools and the Roosevelt Field Mall were locked down.
Kim’s neighbors in Fresh Meadows said they didn’t have any idea he was capable of anything like this.
“We always saw him in the elevator, but he never spoke a word, only a smile,” said one person.
“I thought it was terrible,” said another person. “My first thought was that sometimes, I shop in the Roosevelt Field Mall, and I could be shopping there. Never dawned on me that it would relate in any way to Fresh Meadows, so when I saw all this commotion, I was absolutely shocked.”
Kim is described by police as being between 6 feet and 6 feet, 2 inches tall.
He was last seen wearing a gray or brown suit.
