Public Advocate: Remove NYPD Post Outside Mayor’s Brooklyn Home

Mayor Bill de Blasio is being criticized from within his own administration for keeping police officers stationed outside his now empty home in Brooklyn.

The NYPD is maintaining a 24-hour manned guard post outside of de Blasio’s home in Park Slope even though the family now lives at Gracie Mansion in Manhattan, the Mayor’s official residence.

The mayor’s own Public Advocate Letitia James said, “I don’t understand why it’s still there. Assuming that they no longer live there, it appears to me that it’s a waste of money and the post should be removed.”

De Blasio did not move to Gracie Mansion until two months ago, seven months after taking office.
