The estranged sister-in-law of a wealthy San Francisco woman has taken her pricey artwork hostage and is now squatting in her $ 3 million, Upper East Side apartment, a new Manhattan lawsuit charges.
Philanthropist Regina Scully, who is married to investment banker John Scully of SPO Partners & Co., says her brother’s wife, Shannon Kulik, has refused to vacate her E. 88th Street apartment, even though he already moved out and the lease expired in December.
Kulik,45, is embroiled in a bitter divorce with Scully’s brother, Alfred Kulik, and claims she’s broke, her in-law says in court papers.
Scully, 50, who runs an educational foundation and sits on boards at Harvard University and the elite Horace Mann prep school, fears her sister-in-law will “sell, abscond with or deface” $ 600,000 of paintings and prints she lent the couple in 2007.
“The artwork was never gifted to Alfred or Shannon,” Scully sniffs in the suit.
Scully claims she allowed the Kuliks to live in her pricey pad in 2010 while they “needed some time to build up their businesses.” Alfred runs an eye care facility and Shannon owns two e-businesses.
Scully has a buyer for her condo and she wants the court to boot her sister-in-law from the E. 88th St. unit.
Kulik did not return messages for comment.
