The Texas high school students who wreaked havoc in a burger joint Saturday night apologized Monday after a viral video of the mayhem gave them food for thought.

Food, drinks and even trays went flying at a San Antonio Whataburger after a heated football game between O’Connor and Brandeis high schools, which Brandeis won, 12-10.

A 10-second cellphone video of the skirmish shows how quickly the good-natured sports rivalry spun out of control and gave Whataburger employees plenty to clean up, according to KSAT.

A spokesman for the Northside Independent School District said the students may face suspension.

“Whataburger had the place set up all cute for us, balloons, streamers, banners, etc. And look what we did. We messed it up,” one student Tweeted.

Whataburger released a statement saying students — whether involved in the food fight or not — showed up to apologize in person and that they are still welcome in the restaurant.

“We understand that this act was an emotional moment between a small group of students and not representative of the entire student population,” the statement reads.

Pascual Gonzalez, a spokesperson for the Northside Independent School District, released a statement saying that school administration will review the video to identify students for disciplinary action, including suspension, reported local CBS affiliate KHOU.

“NISD will also cooperate with law enforcement and restaurant management in pursuing criminal charges if warranted,” the statement says.
